Tape Locking Screw (TLS)
Short Graft ACL
The original short-graft ACL reconstruction technique
Unique to the TLS system is its hand reamed retrograde tunnels which gives the possibility to fine-tune tunnel position per-operatively. As a result, studies have shown the TLS to produce less post-operative pain than traditional techniques and other short graft procedures² whilst also producing excellent long-term patient outcomes.
Re-rupture rates are reported at anywhere between 1.9%³ and 6% at 2 years in various independent peer reviewed papers.⁴ In addition, graft preparation is simple and versatile, allowing the surgeon to adjust graft size slightly to match the patient anatomy.
With over 80,00 procedures internationally, nearly 2000 surgeries in Australia each year and a wealth of clinical evidence, the TLS ACL reconstruction is a proven solution for any surgeon.
Australian short graft ACL experience
Developed by FH Orthopaedics, the TLS has been available in Australia since 2014. Although the technique does not have the volume of clinical evidence of the second generation Short Graft ACL techniques from larger companies, not a single paper that has been published shows results inferior to traditional approaches.
Indeed, the latest independent prospective study from the Netherlands indicated that after 2 years less than 2% of Patients experienced a re-rupture. In the sub-group that did not return to pivoting sport this rate dropped to 0%³.
Other independent studies also indicate that the TLS has exceptional post-operative laxity⁵ even up to 5 years post-surgery.
